Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has multiple openings for the position of part-time Sports/Fitness Instructor in the Youth and Family Services Division. Sports/Fitness Instructors work in the disciplines of:
· Double Dutch
Instructors typically work two days a week at a program site, for three hours each shift. This may vary by site. Our afterschool program sites and Beacon community centers include elementary, middle school, and K-8 schools in Cypress Hills/East New York, Brooklyn. Program hours of operation vary by site. Afterschool programs generally operate from 1:00pm or 2:00pm to 5:00pm or 5:30 pm. Evening programs generally operate from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Saturday programs operate between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.
· Design and implement engaging, project-based curriculum for program participants.
· Work with staff team to present the products of projects in a showcase every 12-16 weeks for participants, families and the school community.
· Collaborate with the program team to document, analyze, and improve programming based on attendance, outcomes, and participant/family feedback.
· Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Must have college degree and formal training in the field.
· Must have experience working in youth development or a youth-serving setting.
· Must demonstrate dedication to youth development and ability to work collaboratively with staff.
· Spanish/Bangla/Hindi language preferred.
· Must clear DOE and DOH fingerprinting and background authorizations before working.
This position works in a school setting during the workday. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, walkie-talkies, cellphones, photocopiers, and standard equipment such as safety scissors and tape dispensers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Occasional local travel is expected for this position.
Supervision: Reports directly to the Program Director at the program site.
$25.00-$35.00 per hour depending on education and experience, not to exceed 29 hours in any week.
Schedule varies from site to site, and may include afterschool program (Monday - Friday between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00 pm), evening program (Monday - Friday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00 pm), and Saturday program (Saturday between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00 pm).
