LiveOn NY's Boots on the Ground Roundtable

Join us for our upcoming Boots on the Ground roundtable.

Topic: Demystifying Advance Directives: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Planning and Independence

This presentation will equip professionals with the knowledge to navigate the complex landscape of legal documents, such as Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills, and MOLST, by framing them as essential tools for preserving an older adult’s independence and safety. Participants will explore how these interlocking directives function as a proactive defense against exploitation while ensuring that an individual’s healthcare and financial wishes and goals remain central to their lives as their care needs change. The course will offer practical, trauma-informed strategies to help providers sensitively guide clients through discussions that may trigger difficult memories or emotional distress.
