B4 Taking Action: Intro to Policy/Advocacy

B4 Taking Action: Intro to Policy/Advocacy is a  fun, interactive half-day training to educate all level staff on the fundamentals of policy & advocacy and empower participants with resources and tools to actively engage in civic engagement. In addition, participants will learn how to get involved with our policy and advocacy initiatives. This training is introductory in nature, for beginners to the arena of policy and advocacy, and seeks to build the confidence of all participants to find their voice and amplify the voice of their clients.  

New Senior Center Directors Training

New Directors Training is a two-day training to educate and empower new senior center directors with the knowledge, tools and resources to effectively run the operations of the senior center program and services in the 21st century.

The first day, participants will understand the significance of a senior center in the context of the Aging Service Network,  define the changes in consumer base and communities, and explore the Eight Dimensions of Wellness to discuss programming  and identify best-practices in addressing the changing needs and interests of today's older adults.

The second day, will cover best-practices for working with your Senior Advisory Council, equip directors with knowledge and skills to engage in advocacy and have the opportunity to learn from some of the aging network’s most successful senior center professionals.

Understanding DFTA Fiscal System- Fiscal Training Part 1

This training is of a 4-part series on DFTA Fiscal Management focusing on the critical components of good fiscal management.  Topics Include: DFTA Fiscal Management, Budget Flexibility, Administrative Overhead, Monthly Invoice, Bookkeeping System, Specific Requirements and Guidelines for Consultant, Equipment Rental, Capital/Onetime Payments and Renovations, Audit Preparation, Not For Profit Tax Forms, Payroll Tax Return Compliance and Calendar for Due Dates.

Benefits & Entitlements For Older Adults

Benefits & Entitlements is a Full-day training to educate on benefit and entitlement programs such as SNAP, SCRIE, LIS/MSP & Medicaid and other benefits available for older adults.  We’ll provide eligibility information, application tips, and strategies for engaging with clients to get them through the process.

Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults

Date: December 5, 2018

Time: 9am-5pm

Price:  $50 Members, $100 Non-member

Adult Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults is an 8-hour training designed to provide key skills to help an older adult who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Participants will:

  • Identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses.

  • Know where to turn for help — professional, peer, and self-help resources.

  • Understand 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or in crisis.

  • Review information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and addiction disorders.

  • Discuss risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems.

State Education Department’s (SED) State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0414.

 

REFUND REQUESTS:
All refund requests must be submitted by email to fiscal@liveon-ny.org. Valid requests must be received no later than five days prior to course date. All refunds are subject to a $10.00 administrative processing fee. Credit cannot be issued toward a future program date or substituted for another workshop. Refund requests typically require 1-2 weeks processing time.
